Spearhead from Space

After having been exiled to earth by the Time Lords, the newly incarnated Doctor finds himself in Oxley Woods where mysterious meteorites have been appearing.
Investigating these strange happenings are a trained miltary group known as the 'United Nations Intelligence Taskforce,(UNIT). They have been called in to look into the disapearance of people and meteorites.
The group is lead by Brigadier Alistair Gorden lethbridge-Stewart, who has worked alongside the Doctor before.
Even stranger still, is the attempted kidnapping of a man in hospital who apparently has two hearts.
He says that he knows the Brigadier but having regenerated, Lethbridge doesn't recognise the Doctor.

Planet of The Spiders

Along with companion Sarah Jane Smith, the Doctor's only hope of saving the universe from a race of mutant spiders called eight legs, is to stop them from getting hold of the the 'blue crystal', an object that the Doctor took from Metebelis III.

In the end, the Doctor must return the cyrstal to Metebelis III and confront the 'Great One,' a giant spider who wants the cyrstal so that she can power her psychic energy forever. But the web overloads once the crystal is in place and the Great One, along with the eight legs are destroyed.
The destruction of the web releases a huge amount of radiation. The Doctor just manages to escape in the TARDIS and flees to UNIT where he collapses before regenerating once again.
