Companions

Susan Foreman

Occupation:Grandaughter of the Doctor

Last appearance:The Dalek Invasion Of Earth (1964)
Guest appearance:The Five Doctors (1983)


After the Doctor defeated the Daleks once again, Susan chose to stay behind on planet Earth. It was now the 22nd century, London and she had decided to marry resistance fighter David Campbell.
The Doctor also realised that she needed to have a life of her own instead of a life as he's companion.


Barbara Wright and Ian Chesterton

Occupation:Teachers to Susan Foreman

Last appearance:The Chase (1965)


Barbara Wright along with Ian Chesterton met the Doctor after Barbara became curious about her student who seemed to know a lot about the past as well as the future. Hoping to have a word with Susan's grandfather, both she and Chesterton followed her home and ended up being companions to The Doctor for two years.
Their last adventure was in The Chase. After the Daleks had been destroyed in a war with the Mechanoids, Barbara and Ian discovered a time ship that used to belong to the Daleks. They used this to take them back home.

Vicki

Basic info-Name:Vicki (Maureen O'brian)
First appearance:The Rescue (1965)
Last appearance:The Myth Makers (1965)

The Doctor, Barbara and Ian met Vicki, an orphan when they discovered her aboard a crashed spaceship on the planet of Dido in the 25th century. She and a paralysed man were the only survivors of the ship after all the other passengers had been murdered.
Vicki's last appearance with the Doctor was in The Myth Makers, where she fell in love with a man named Troilus and decided to stay behind.

Steven Taylor

Occupation:Space ship pilot
First appearance: The Chase (1965)
Last episode:The Savages (1966)

Steven met the Doctor when his ship crashed onto the planet Mechanus. He was imprisoned by the Mechanoids who wanted to make the planet suitable for human habitation.
He was stuck in prison for two years before being rescued by the Doctor after the Daleks had followed the TARDIS to Mechanus.
His last stint as companion was in The Savages, where he chose to stay behind with The Savages and take on the role as their new leader.

Katarina

Basic info-Name:Katarina (Adrienne Hill)
Occupation:Hand maiden to the prophetess Cassandra
First appearance and last appearance:The Chase (1965)


We first meet Katarina in 1184 BC while the ancient city of Troy is still at war. She thought, at first that the Doctor was a God after seeing all the tecnology inside the TARDIS after she had helped Steven who was injured, inside.
Katarina met her end by sacrificing herself, when the Doctor was forced to face the Daleks.


Dodo Chaplet

Basic info-Name:Dorothea Chaplet (Jackie Lane)
Occupation:School girl
First appearance:The Massacre (1966)
Last episode:The war Machines (1966)

Dodo Chaplet is a school girl who tries to use the Tardis to report an accident, after mistaken it for a real police box. After being let in by Peter when he spies the real police approaching, he allows Dodo entry into the TARDIS where she is whisked away through time and space.
After being under the control of the super computer WOTAN, Dodo decides, once she is free, to leave the Doctor prefering instead to stay in London.

Polly Wright

Basic info-Name:Polly Wright (Anneke Willis)
Occupation:Secretary
First appearance:The War Machines (1966)
Last appearance:The Faceless Ones (1967)

When she first encountered the Doctor, Polly had been working as a secretary to the inventor of the super computer WOTAN. Like Dodo Chaplet, Polly was briefly under the control of the machine. But her strong faith in her friends, broke her out from under WOTAN's hypnotic power.
One of Polly's bravest feats, was to destroy the Cybermen with her own invention, with the idea taken from her nail varnish remover. Using the 'cocktail Polly', she was able to melt the plastic in the Cybermen's chest units.

Ben Jackson

Last appearance:The Faceless Ones (1967)

Ben met the Doctor after Polly had seen him sitting alone in a nightclub and had taken pity on him.
Though his friendship with Polly was strong, Ben did not trust the Doctor when he first met him.
However being in the navy, he had a strong sense of obedience, which the Macra were able to take advantage of to force Ben to work for them. In the end though, he's loyalty to his friends won through and broke the conditioning.
When he and Polly both arrived back in England, Ben had been missing his job as a seaman and so took the oppertunity to arrive on the day that he had originally left.

Jamie Macrimmon

Basic info-Name:Jamie Macrimmon (Frazer Hines)
Occupation:Piper
First appearance:The Highlanders (1966)
Last regular appearance:The War Games (1969)
Guest appearances:The Five Doctors (1983)
The Two Doctors (1985)

Jamie met the Doctor, Ben and Polly after the battle of Culloden in Scotland 1746.
After fighting and defeating a band of English slave traders, Jamie took up the Doctor's offer to join him on his travels.
Though he didn't have much of an education, the Dominators examined is brain and discovered that he was a very quick learner. This fact came in useful when he came up with the idea to capture a robot yeti and to stop a bomb before it found it's way to the core center of the planet Dulkis.
The end of his adventure,(but not for the last time) came when The Time Lords caught up with the Doctor, Jamie was taken back home to the Highlands right at the moment before he had entered the TARDIS. All but the memory of his first outing with the Doctor had been erased.

Victoria Waterfield

Basic info-Name:Victoria Waterfield (Deborah Watling)
First appearance:The Evil Of The Daleks (1967)
Last appearance:Fury From The Deep (1968)

Although she wasn't very keen, Victoria decided to travel with the Doctor after her father had been killed by the Daleks.
She spent most of her time in fear and screaming, which the Doctor made full use of by amplifying her screams to kill off a weed like creature.
On landing in the 20th century and having no family in the 19th century where she was originally from, Victoria took up the chance to stay and to be part of an ordinary family.And so ended her adventures with the Doctor.
