Th guardian teklls him that unless the key is retrieved, Time will stopjust for a second but after that second nothing will remain. For This he will need a new Companion. Romana and a tracer to help findthe segments.
The Tracer takes the three of them to the city of Shur on the Planet of Ribos.
Meanwhile On Ribo Three con men,Garron aand Unstoffe are engaged in a scam in sellinbg The Planet Ribos to the Graff Vynda-K Ruler of The planet Levithia. The Graff vynda-K has been conned into believing that Ribos is stacked full of the precious mineral Jethrick that can power warp space drive machines.
The Graff is futher Piqued when he sees a Real peice of the stone mineral Jethrik on display.
When the Doctor comes across it he realises that this is the First of six segments, but before he can steal it Ustoffe spirits it away ready to give to the graff. The Graff, having discovered the trick that has been played on him, hunts the con men down and captures them, along with the time travellers, in the catacombs beneath the city. He is on the point of having them executed when Riban guards blow up the entrance to the catacombs.
The Deaths of his loyal officr Sholakh in the ensuing rock fall unhinges The Graff Vynda-k's mind. Hetorms into the dust but is then killed by a thermite bomb wich he had preeviously intended to destroy in the catacombs.
The Doctor, Romana and K9 depart with the jethrik, leaving Garron and Unstoffe to make off with the Graff's ship of plundered loot.
At the Doctor's invitation, Romana touches the tracer to the lump of jethrik, which is transformed into the first segment. 'Simple, wasn't it?' suggests the Doctor dryly. 'Only five more to go.'

The Pirate Planet
The Fourth doctor Romana I K9 M II
The Tracer then detects th second ssegnebt to b on the planet Calufrax but when they land they deduce that they are not on calufrax at all. They are on the planet Zanak instead. Zanak kis a planet that had its xore dug out and replaced by engines so that the planet can transmit and materialise around other planets-Such as Calufrax-to plunder their mineral wealth then thereforeleaving the planets as shunken husks only held by gravitational forces in Queen Xanaxia's 'Trophy Room'. Ostensibly in charge is the Captain, whose body has been partially replaced with robotic parts following a near-fatal crash, but he is merely a puppet controlled by his nurse - a projection of Zanak's original ruler, the aged But Young looking, Queen Xanxia.
Xanxia is using time dams, wich are powered by the forces generated in the trophy room, just to keep her body alive until this new, younger form has stabilised. The Captain prepares Zanak to 'jump' again - this time with Earth as its target.
The Doctor attempts to thwart his plans, calling on the assistance of the Mentiads - a gestalt of telepaths amongst Zanak's indigenous population That the inhabitants fear - to sabotage the engines of Zanak To Stop the Queen and the Captain.
The Captain rebels against the nurse, but she eventually kills him. The nurse herself is then destroyed by one of the Zanak natives whom the Doctor, Romana and K9 have befriended.
The Doctor realises that the second segment comprises the whole of the planet Calufrax. He contrives to drop the compressed husks from the trophy room into a space-time vortex created by the TARDIS in the centre of Zanak, and is then able to pick up and convert the segment at his leisure. If Only He could Fit the peices together... |

The stones of Blood
The Fourth Doctor , Romana and K9 Mark II
The Doctor, Romana and K9 are led by the tracer to the Nine Travellers, a circle of standing stones on Boscombe Moor in present-day England, but the third segment is nowhere to be found. They meet elderly archaeologist Professor Emilia Rumford and her assistant Vivien Fay, who are surveying the site, and learn that the circle appears to have had a variable number of stones over the years.
The Doctor encounters a group of Druids led by a man named de Vries and narrowly avoids becoming their latest sacrifice. De Vries is later killed by one of the stones from the circle - an Ogri, a life form that lives on blood. Miss Fay is the latest guise of the Cailleach, a being worshipped by the Druids, who has been on Earth for four thousand years. She transports Romana to a spaceship suspended in hyperspace at the same coordinates as the stone circle.
Moore and K9 hav to fight against the Ogri But K9's weapons are not effective against them so when they leave, K9 is left Brokn in the house.
She Doctor follows and accidentally releases two justice machines called Megara, which sentence him to death for breaking the seal on their compartment. When they attempt to carry out their sentence, however, he tricks them into knocking Miss Fay unconscious. Reading her mind, they learn that she is really Cessair of Diplos - the alien criminal they were originally sent to try. Having established her guilt, they transform her into an additional stone in the circle, but not before the Doctor has grabbed her necklace - the Seal of Diplos, alias the third segment of the Key to Time.
