In 2013, they released their first album 2 Cool 4 Skool, while BTS released their first Korean language studio album Dark & Wild and their first Japanese language studio album Wake Up in 2014.
Their second Korean studio album Wings (in 2016) sold over a million copies, marking the first time they achieved this milestone. By 2017, BTS had entered the global music market.
They became the first Korean music group to receive a certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for their song 'Mic Drop,' as well as the first Korean music group to have their studio album Love Yourself: Tear reach the top spot on the US Billboard 200.
In 2020, BTS became the first South Korean music group to reach number one on the Billboard Global 200 and US Billboard Hot 100 with their song "Dynamite."
BTS is the best-selling artist in South Korean history, and their album "Map of the Soul: 7" (2020) was the best-selling album in South Korea.
Among the awards BTS has received are new American Music Awards, 12 Billboard Music Awards, 24 Golden Disc Awards, and two Grammy Awards.
They partnered with UNICEF to establish the Love Myself anti-violence campaign, and by speaking at three sessions of the United Nations General Assembly, they became the youngest recipients of the cultural merit award from the South Korean president for their contributions to promoting Korean culture.
Named by Time's international magazine as "Next Generation Leaders" and "Princes of Pop," BTS was also listed among the 25 most influential people on the internet (2017-2019) and the 100 most influential people in the world.
The BTS (BTS) Skool Luv Affair album was released in February 2014.
This release peaked on the Gaon album chart and made its first appearance on Billboard's World Albums Chart, reaching the third position.
"Boy in Luv" and "Just One Day" were the only two songs from the Skool Luv Affair album.
After the release of the Skool Luv Affair album, BTS held their first fan meeting in Seoul. In July 2014, BTS performed at a show in Western Hollywood.
