Amazon forest

Known as Amazonia or the Amazon rainforest, the Amazon rainforest is a moist broadleaf forest located in the Amazon basin, which spans much of South America. This basin covers an area of 7,000,000 km2 (2,700,000 sq mi), of which 5,500,000
km2 (2,100,000 sq mi) is designated as rainforest. This area contains a diverse range of species belonging to a new category.
The majority of the rainforest, about 60%, is located in Brazil, followed by 13% in Peru, and 10% in Colombia, while the remaining smaller portions are divided among Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana. Four
nations refer to their primary administrative region as 'Amazônia,' while France uses the term 'Guyane amazonienne parc' to refer to its rainforest protected area
