Pyramid of the Sun, Mexico

The Pyramid of the Sun is one of the most famous pyramids of the ancient Central American region, and the 3rd largest in the world. The Pyramid of the Sun, along with the Pyramid of the Moon and it's home city, Teotihuacan, were built from about 1-250 A.D. By the Aztecs. Mexican folklore says that the Pyramid of the Sun (and the Pyramid of the Moon) were used to honor the sun and moon gods. Priests were said to perform daily ceremonies there. It stands up to about 200 feet long.

Macchu Picchu, Peru

Macchu Picchu stands 3,000 feet above Urubamba Valley, Peru. There, stand two mountains- Machu Picchu (old mountain) and Huayna Pichu (young mountain). On a cloud draped ridge between the two lies the site of Macchu Picchu. It is the estate of the Inca king, Pachacuti, who lived from 1438-1471. This site is made up of buildings arranged in groups which are made mostly of granite. A trail called the Inca Trail will lead you to the site. It is one of the best 10 trekking trails in the world. You will see many llamas at Macchu Picchu. Macchu Picchu is one of the 7 wonders of the world.

Statue of Christ the Reedeemer, Brazil

The Statue of Christ the Reedemer is probably the most recognized site in Brazil. It is located in Rio de Janeiro on Corcovado Mountain. The idea for the statue was to celebrate 100 years of Brazil's independence. Building began in 1926, and was finished in 1931. It was actually built in France, and then shipped to Brazil. The statue was made out of soapstone. It is the largest Art Deco monument in the world. Looking from the statue, there's an excellent 360° view of Rio. This is definitely not a site to miss.
