World Heritage in Sri Lanka
 
heritage is defined as natural sites, including geological and physiological formations, and habitats of endangered animal and plant species, including natural heritage.Established in 1972, UNESCO designates World Heritage Sites with outstanding universal cultural or natural heritage, nominated by signatory countries to the World Heritage.As of 2022, eight places in Sri Lanka have also been included in the list.The first three sites, the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, the ancient city of Sigiriya and the sacred city of Anuradhapura, were listed in 1982.The most recent location, the Central Highlands of Sri Lanka, was listed in 2010.The Central Highlands and Sinharaja Forest Reserve are also natural sites and are therefore included in the World Heritage List.The ancient city of Anuradhapura, the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, Sigiriya, the ancient city of Kandy, the Sinharaja Forest Reserve, and the Central Highlands of Sri Lanka are also included in the World Heritage List of Sri Lanka.Sri Lanka's World Heritage Sites are very beautiful. |
