The birth of the Buddha is commemorated on the full moon day of vesak.prince siddhartha,the son of king suddhodana and goddess mahamaya, was born on the day of vesak in the lumbini saluyana in kimbulwatnuwara.He left all his comforts and went out of his home,practiced hard work for six years and attained enlightenment on the day of vesak.
