Ratnapura is a city in Sri Lanka, located in the Sabaragamuwa Province, and it serves as the capital of the province. The name "Ratnapura" translates to "City of Gems," reflecting the region's long history of gemstone mining. It is considered one of the primary hubs for the country's gem industry and is particularly famous for its precious stones, such as sapphires, rubies, and topaz.Ratnapura lies in the southwestern part of Sri Lanka, approximately 100 kilometers from Colombo.It has a tropical climate, with a lot of rainfall throughout the year, especially during the monsoon seasons.
