A brief summary of others who have travelled with or helped the Doctor:
1963 - The Thals: When the leader of The Thals, Temmosus is exterminated by the Daleks, the Doctor persuades the peace loving aliens to rise up and attack Dalek city. They do so, deafeating their enemies.
1967 - Professor Travers:In 1935, Professor Travers had led an expedition to the Himalayas, hoping to track down the Abominable Snowman. He found instead, robot yeti under the control of the Great Intelligence.
They planned to conquer earth, attacking the monastry of Det-sen and Travers betrayed the Doctor to the monks. Realising his mistake, he helped fight the invasion and 40 years later, when the yeti invaded the London undregound he was recruited as a scientific adviser by the army.
1979 - Duggan: Duggan, a private dectective, had been looking into the activities of Scaroth,last of the Jagaroth. Scaroth planned to travel 400 millions years into the past to stop his space ship from being destroyed. But this event had started the creation of all life on earth. Travelling back in time with the Doctor, it was Duggan who knocked out Scaroth with a punch before he could reach his ship.
1982 - Richard Mace: when the TARDIS landed in England in the year 1666, the same year as the Great Fire of London, the Doctor came across Mace who was an out of work actor as well as a highwayman...well not quite. Though he had no idea what was going on, Mace helped the doctor and his copmanions to fight off the Terileptils. A gun exploded during the battle and the Great Fire of London was started. Mace stayed behind to help put out the fire, declining the offer to travel with the Doctor.
1996 - Chang lee : When the Doctor is shot by a street gang, Chang Lee takes him to hospital. Thinking that he is dead, Lee steals the doctors possession and finds the keys to the TARDIS.
On entering he meets the Master who convinces him that the Doctor is evil and has stolen his body. Chang Lee believes this and decides to help the Master after he is offered wealth. When he finds out that he had been lied to, he stands up to the Master but is killed. He is later resurrected during the TARDIS Temporal orbit.
2005 - Jabe: Jabe of the Forest Of Cheem, gave her life so that the Doctor could reach the manual reset switch for the defences on Platform one.
2005 - Gwyneth: Gwyneth a maid servant who worked for undertaker Mr Sneed, was also a psychic. She agreed to be used as a gateway for the alien Gelth but this killed her. Somehow she still had enough power left, to destroy the Gelth by setting light to the Gas in Sneed's morgue.
2005 - Pete Tyler: Pete had died when Rose was just a baby. When she came across the scene of his accident, taken there by the Doctor, she interfered with time by preventing him from being knocked down. This created a wound in time from which the reapers came through. Intent on wiping out humanity and with the Doctor consumed by them, Pete was able to put things right by jumping in front of the car that killed him many years earlier.
2005 - Adam Mitchell: Genius Adam travelled with the Doctor to an orbiting satellite in 200,000 but he took advantage of the situation to gain information from the future and send it to his answer machine back on earth. Angry at this, the Doctor took Adam home.
2005 - Lynda Moss : scacrificed her life on the Game Station when She was caught monitoring the Daleks.
2005 - Madame Reinette De Pompadour: First met the Doctor as a child. As a grown-up, she had the rare talent of being able to read the Doctor's mind and he hers. From the time she was young, clockwork robots had been tracking her timeline. When they were defeated, the Doctor told her that he would come back for her. But what was a short time for the Doctor was many years for Reinette and when he went back to find her, he found that she had died.
2006 - L.I.N.D.A : L.I.N.D.A consisted of a group of people,Elton Pope, Ursula Blake, Colin Skinner, Bridget and Bliss, who rgularly met up to discuss alien activity centered around the Doctor. But in recent weeks, the group seemed to have lost their way, talking about everything but the topic that had first brought them together. The arrival of Victor Kennedy soon changed that and the group were forced to re-focus as he took charge of the meetings. Victor however turned out to be the Abzorbaloff, an alien sent from the planet Clom to track down Rose and The Doctor. By the time he had been destroyed, the rest of the group and been physically absorbed into him except Bridget who had, like the Abzorbaloff, absorbed into the pavement. Elton was the only member of the group to remain intact.
2007 - Shakesphere : Shakesphere helped the Doctor and Martha stop the Carrionites from destroying the human race using text from one of his plays, now thought to be missing.
2007 - Charles Dickens : Charles Dickens always believed strongly in the supernatural and got the chance to encounter the walking dead as well as alien beings as he helped the Doctor and Rose.
2007 - The Face Of Boe :It is thought that the Face Of Boe is at least 5 billion years old. He helped the doctor when he gave the last of his power to save the city.
2007 - Francine and Trish Jones : Mother and sister to Martha, helped to defeat the master after he kidnapped them and made them his servants.
2007 - Joan Redfern : Joan worked at a boys School as a nurse, where the Doctor hid his own identity from Himself in order to evade the Family Of Blood. Joan and the Doctor, now a history teacher known as John Smith, developed romantic feelings for each other. It was only when she read his diaries that Joan discovered who he really was and urged him to restore himself to save everyone from attack by the family of blood. She later refused his offer to travel, noticing that because of him, many people had died. She then asked him to leave.
2007 - Sally Sparrow :The Doctor and Martha had been sent back to 1969 by the Weeping Angels. 38 years later, Sally Sparrow sees a message scrawled on the wall of an old house written there by The Doctor. After a a conversation with him via a DVD he had recorded 38 years ago, she finds the key to the TARDIS, leading The Weeping angels to the time machine which was activated by the DVD and sent off to 1969, leaving the Angels trapped.
2008 - Jenny :Jenny was originally made to be a soldier. Made from a tissue sample taken from the Doctor, Jenny was technically his daughter. A fighting machine, Jenny still had elements of the Doctor including two hearts.She chose to reject violence however, coming around to her 'father's' way of thinking. She was shot by a man whose life she had spared. The Doctor upset by this, took off not know that Jenny had been revived. She was seen taking off in a colonist ship, planning on fighting aliens and travelling worlds just like her 'dad'.
2008 - Torchwood : The members of Torcwood, Gwen Cooper and Ianto Jones, led by Captain Jack Harkness, help the Doctor and Martha defeat a mass invasion from the Daleks.
2008 - Rosita Farisi : Loyal companion to Jackson Lake, Rosita helps him and the Doctor from a Cybershade when it pulls them both through an empty warehouse.
2008 - Wilf :Donna's grandad was finally happy to meet the Doctor and encounter aliens.
2009-Erisa Magambo : A member of UNIT, Magambo works alongside Rose, searching for technology from a dying TARDIS, that took Donna back in time. With the Doctor absent, she teams up with scientific advisor Malcom Taylor to ready her forces from an attack by aliens attempting to come through a wormhole.
